Our journey continued to Salamanca, in our opinion one of the most beautiful cities we had visited up to that point.

On the way south through the Sierra Creda, we were lucky to experience a horse-riding event organized by local rangers and encounter ibexes on a mountain hike.

In the Monfrague National Park in Extremadura, we were able to observe deer as well as numerous griffon vultures and Egyptian vultures on the steep cliffs.

Before crossing the border to Portugal, we visited the cities of Caceres and Merida, both belonging to the World Heritage. In Tomar, we climbed up to the Convento de Cristo (convent and one of the only two fully preserved Templar castles).

After 2 weeks inland, we returned to the Atlantic coast in Nazaré. Although we only saw the 25-meter high waves in photographs, we were still impressed by the roaring sea around the lighthouse.

About 100 km further south, we reached the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca (unfortunately in the rain, but the cliff coast was impressive nonetheless).
