After lighting the fire in the oven, Jan and I treat ourselves to a lavish breakfast with freshly baked rolls, cereal, yogurt, and scrambled eggs. After the usual Refugio tasks - getting firewood, sweeping and washing up, we make pasta with tomato sauce, enriched with a tomato cream soup mix (not recommended!). Lars joins us for lunch. We eat outside on the veranda overlooking the lagoon and chat with the tourists. A trio of sprightly grannies surprises us with their knowledge of German; it turns out they emigrated from Germany to Chile in their youth.

In the afternoon, Lars and I head to Valle Norte one last time. Up at the foot of the summit, the last bit of snow has melted away. Hoping for an even more spectacular view, we climb a few hundred meters further up the dried up stream bed, which pays off somewhat. But we still didn't see any pumas here.
