The farewell today is difficult for us. The apartment was soooooo amazing. But unfortunately, the time is over. So, suitcase in the car and off we go. Before we go on a long journey with the ferry, we want to throw the missing disc baskets, from the journey here (you remember my involuntary trip into the stream?).
First throw by Carsten and already 20 minutes of "searching for the disc". He is usually very accurate, but the throw was rubbish. It was probably the not yet complete concentration, at such an early hour. However, we ran out of time in the end, so we only managed to do 5 baskets.
And a just-in-time landing. Exactly 5 minutes before the check-in counter for baggage closes, we arrived at the ferry terminal. We can do that and we can do it to perfection, even though we have enough time, we still manage to get stressed out in the end.
But, even though we were completely sweaty, we made it to sit on the ship on time.
After 3 and a half hours, we reach the North Island. The capital of New Zealand. Wellington.
💡Wellington is the second largest city in New Zealand, with approximately 200,000 inhabitants, after Auckland. Founded in 1839 by William Wakefield and named after Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington.
After about three-quarters of an hour, we finally have our luggage. Today is Friday and at least 3 school classes have come back from a class trip. So hundreds of parents and children were standing around the baggage carousel, waiting for their luggage. But we got everything safe and complete. The city of Wellington is built into the surrounding mountains, so it's not surprising that our hotel is on a hill. I love mountains.
The room is modern and the bed is wide and comfortable. Swimming pool and gym right next door, since we live on the 1st floor, the reception is on the 5th floor.
So, let's mountain goats go out and find something to chew on. And we find it. One more drink in the Irish pub with live music.
We spent the day well.
