Last night we slept really well. Due to the high altitude of our parking space, it was below 20°.
After breakfast, we took a short hike to the village of Dimitsana. It is located high above the narrow Lousios Valley on a mountain ridge. A mixture of melancholic seclusion from the world and sympathetic silence - Dimitsana is probably one of the most peaceful villages in Arcadia.
We then went to Vassae. This proved to be difficult, as according to our travel guide, the way was well signposted. However, it was not mentioned that the signs do not say Vassae, but Apollon Temple. So we took a small detour on the still adventurous roads.
The temple with its Doric columns is clear and simple. It stands in a lonely and barren landscape on a hill of the Lykaeon Massif at an altitude of 1130 m. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 and is undergoing extensive restoration. For over 2 decades, a tent construction has been protecting the structure. The restoration is very elaborate and will take several more years.
After that, we drove back to the coast and ended up in a pine forest about 100 m from the sea. Here, you are allowed to park "wild". There is water and garbage disposal, and at the water points, you can also take a shower (cold and without a shower cabin). We will do that right away and then cook some leftovers. The beer is gone, but we still have plenty of water and wine, so that should be enough....
