Day 9 - Exploring Dubai

Visited highlights: JBR Beach, City Walk, Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Fountain

Saturday - we're going to Dubai with the whole family and want to go for a swim at JBR Beach. After all, it's a scorching 36 degrees outside today. At Jumeirah Beach, we jump into the sea. I was hoping for some coolness, but it's "pisswarm". Not for me... I continue to sweat in the water and after a short time, I leave. My cousin's husband feels the same way. We're just not made for these temperatures, but unlike him, I don't have to live here and endure this heat, especially in the summer...

Showering at the beach is even worse. They are unfortunately even hotter... almost boiling hot. I quickly rinse off and change clothes. Once everyone is out of the water, I need an air conditioner. We go for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory, and for dessert, the kids get a delicious cheesecake or ice cream. (Unfortunately, I completely forgot to take photos in the morning ☹)

We continue to the new City Walk Promenade/Mall and stroll leisurely through it, taking a peek inside one or the other shopping building (air conditioning 😉) and treat ourselves to a coffee in the afternoon.

At around 5 PM, we split up - our little godchildren are exhausted and need to go to bed. While the little ones go back to Abu Dhabi with Mum&Dad, we continue to Dubai Mall - once again, watching the water shows! We didn't go to Dubai last year, so we have to make up for it this time.

We explore Dubai Mall and stop at the highlights - ice skating rink, waterfall, aquarium - and make "music" on the colored sound rods in the "Souk". Then we head out to the Dubai Fountain. Outside the Khalifa, we watch the first water show at 6 PM. It's always so cool! We stand on the bridge with a view of the Khalifa. As always, it's packed here.

At 6:30 PM - it's now dark - we watch the second show from the balcony on the first floor of Dubai Mall. This time, my favorite song "Baba Yetu" comes on - it's soooooooo beautiful together with the water fountains. I'm in awe!

We have dinner at Pizza Hut and then drive back to Abu Dhabi - along the completely illuminated highway - always fascinating.
