I sleep like a dormouse in the princess room, except that I have to ride like a whole guy again the next day. 🤣 56 km to Marienfliess. But this time it doesn't matter when I arrive there.
So I can also take my time with the departure.
I sleep until 9.30 am and the breakfast is brought to my room. How nice. 😗 And the best part, everything except the cheese and coffee is homemade. Even the bread is self-baked.
When I want to pay for my room, I can't help but look into Catrina and Bernd's chambers. An old and very beautiful tiled stove catches my eye. I start talking to Catrina. She studied fashion design and comes from Rostock. Bernd from Berlin. Now they practically met in the middle and made this "little piece" of nature arable 8 years ago or are still and constantly working on it. In the house, which belongs to the watermill, many old things can be found that originally didn't belong here, but come from a bygone era. How much idealism must be required to tackle such a project. Catrina also offers Qi Gong on the side. Maybe this is the key. Harmony can be found everywhere in and around the house. How much I would have liked to book an hour with her.
Chit-chatting... I really have to start now. 🚴♀️
Catrina gives me some provisions as a farewell. A very beautiful zucchini blossom. Edible, of course. 🌸
Happily, I start cycling. It's warm and overcast and I still feel plenty of strength in my legs.
But in Pritzwalk, I'm already exhausted. Only 20 km behind me. It's 2 pm and I want to strengthen myself. I sit down at the Italian restaurant and am about to order pasta when a young lady with pink-dyed hair whispers: "My dear, we only offer coffee and ice cream." No, I'm not annoyed, I'm on vacation and just hungry. 😫
In the next restaurant, they also let me continue hungry. 🤗
Now I decide to go for my somewhat discolored banana 🍌 and try to continue by train. But there are no trains at the train station anymore. The future in Brandenburg is now called a demand-responsive bus. 🤨 I wait in the loop for 10 minutes and after everybody seems to be against me except the weather, I decide to continue by bike. It could have worked, at least cheating once. 😜
The route proves to be tough. Not only do I have headwind, but there are also inclines that are tough. At a self-picker field for blueberries, I give up for the time being and after the fiasco in Pritzwalk, I naturally get a blueberry pie with whipped cream. 🍰
An older couple joins me at my table and we start chatting. I completely forgot to ask for their names, but I'll just call them Dieter and Astrid as they are similar to my parents. Dieter is open, curious, and humorous, Astrid is cultured and has red hair. 🧑🏻🦰👴🏻
And as luck would have it, Dieter tells me a shortcut to Marienfliess. Thank God for fate. 🙏🏼
After a bit of hesitation, I actually decide to take Dieter's field path variant and hopefully save some kilometers. Completely exhausted, I reach Stift Marienfließ.
And I am welcomed so warmly. 🥰 My room is called the pilgrim's room, but it looks very cozy.
And when fresh chanterelles with potatoes and turkey breast are offered to me, I am overjoyed. 🌸
