After a 3-hour drive on a very winding mountain road, we finally reached Pai. Yippee, we thought, now just quickly find our bungalow. So we started walking, firmly convinced that we were on the right path. After the first half an hour, doubts started to creep in, and after a good 1 and a half hours of walking with our backpacks in 35-degree heat, the friendly scooter rider named Sherkan confirmed that we had gone completely the wrong way! Eventually, it had to happen :D. Dear Sherkan drove each of us back to the city so we didn't have to walk back. Sherkan, our hero :) So, next attempt - the wrong direction again. The funny thing: everyone we asked about Tony's Guesthouse had absolutely no idea where it is, not even the taxi driver. Ok, third time lucky. Thank goodness, there was a sign a bit outside - Tony's Guesthouse. We have arrived. Now it's time to rest a bit and have a beer. The next morning, we had the most delicious cereal ever. Really amazing. Strengthened, we rented a scooter and explored the surroundings. An accident almost happened. My phone smoothly flew off the scooter at full speed. But it wouldn't be a Huawei if it didn't survive without a single scratch :D It's so beautiful here. Between waterfalls, banana plants, and mango trees, it's a place worth staying. You can imagine Pai as a small sleepy village (almost like Schleching :D), everyone is pretty relaxed, probably because a joint is part of breakfast here, and the air is filled with incense sticks everywhere. The residents are all hippies. Back in the city, we went to the Walking Street. We're hungry and trying out every food stall :) How awesome is the food here. Just because of that alone, we would stay here longer. Yesterday, we set off with the scooter again - Once around Pai. The landscape is simply amazing. Now we're sitting here with meditation music, enjoying our cereal, and feeling a bit sad that we're heading back to Bangkok today. But there's a bit of excitement at the thought of going to Koh Tao in the south tomorrow.
See you at the beach :*
