Day 23: Lake Hawea - Queenstown

Wow, this morning atmosphere; the rising sun and the mountains reflecting in the water.

Only these little nuisances slightly mar the idyll; the infamous sandflies!

The drive leads directly along the lake, past cows and a rabbit. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a parking spot in Queenstown and went straight to the campsite a bit further away. As usual, we didn't have any reception and couldn't inform ourselves about possible hikes. We confess: the photo is deceiving... we were hiking with our backpacks for a whole 20 minutes before realizing that we couldn't find the path to the mountain. Despite the initial disappointment, the alternative program was great (swimming, strength training by the lake, bocce with flip flops and tree branches, and swimming again).

Later in the evening, it starts raining again, but that doesn't bother us as we have a cozy camper 😊
