After a night by the sea, we head back to the 'mountains'. We stop for a short pitstop (Fuel & Food) in Innisfail before heading into Wooroonooran National Park, specifically to the Mamu Sky Walk. We walk on a platform at treetop height through the jungle and learn interesting things about the indigenous people (Mamu) from an audio guide. Afterwards, we take a short hike to the Wallacha Falls, where we get attacked by leeches and I end up with two 'battle wounds' (see photo). So the sight of the waterfall is only half as great and we are relieved when we are back in the camper ;-)
We continue to the next campsite, but before that, we take a refreshing swim in the jungle pool at the Millaa Millaa Falls, just 5 minutes away. The climate in Millaa Millaa is perfect, slightly cooler (25 degrees) due to the higher elevation and not as humid as the rest of tropical North Queensland. As a bedtime treat, the friendly campsite manager shows us a rare tree kangaroo at the top of the tallest tree!
