11 rooms, 22 beds. 1 ladies shower with toilet, 1 mens shower with toilet. For us, that means: "the early bird sits on the clean glasses and has the free shower"
Already at 8 o'clock we swing our butts back onto the saddles. And because there are always inquiries about the bottom, yes, you can gradually feel that we have been sitting on it for 5 days. But unlike last year, it's bearable. We already suspected it: the unfamiliar sitting on the bicycle saddle, combined with too many kilos, was the worst last year.
Today, breakfast is only available after a few kilometers. We have reached Konstanz and are looking for a nice bakery with seating in the sun to enjoy the day right from the start.
Along the Lake Rhein - that's what we call the part of Lake Constance that we are cycling today - the arrangement of lake - railway line - cycle path, lake - cycle path - road or lake - cycle path - railway line changes, but no matter how: it's always beautiful. We also see plenty of Lake Constance fruits in the form of apples, pears, and currants. We take an early lunch break in Stein am Rhein and it's worth sitting there in the pedestrian zone with the beautifully painted houses, having a coffee, and watching people.
We reach our destination, Rheinfall in Schaffhausen, before 2 p.m. We must celebrate the festivals as they come and ALWAYS take boat trips when you are by the water! So of course, we also take a short tour below the Rheinfall. We think it's very cool that young people board the boat 2 km downstream so that they can be carried back by the current afterwards - that must be fun. We are happy that our youth hostel is actually located directly in the castle and that we can enjoy the Rheinfall all to ourselves from 7 p.m., when all the tourist buses have removed the crowds. We are now sitting here with a bottle of wine, enjoying the wild, never-ending roar of the Rheinfall.
