After weeks of lockdown, the rules are slowly but surely being relaxed in Australia. Specifically, this means that at this point in time, it is allowed to take day trips within a radius of 150km. Yippie!!!๐Ÿ˜† I couldn't miss this opportunity, so I booked a trip to Moreton Island๐Ÿ. The third largest sand island in the world is located in the bay off Brisbane, 40km from the mainland. Moreton Island is known for its 4x4 jeep adventures, sunsets๐ŸŒ…, and snorkeling tours๐Ÿฅฝ. In addition, you can find 46 different colors of sand scattered on the island.๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Early in the morning, I rode my bike to the 'Port of Brisbane,' where our entire tour group met. Currently, the advantage is that there are not many tourists, and our tour was far from fully booked. In addition to our two Australian guides, three students from Germany๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช took part in the tour, and I immediately started talking to them. After a 90-minute boat rideโ›ด, we arrived at the island in bright sunshineโ˜€๏ธ. In the morning, sandboarding was on the program. We were transported to the sand dunes by jeep. Once there, we slid down the dunes with wooden boards๐Ÿ‚. What a great experience!

For lunch, we drove back to the beach.

In the afternoon, we went snorkeling. I had been looking forward to it since the beginning of the trip. There are 16 rusted shipwrecks off Moreton Island that include a reef. Although the water was a bit cold, it was an unforgettable experience. The reef is home to a variety of colorful fish๐Ÿ , turtles๐Ÿข, and corals.

After a final beach walk, we returned to the mainland by boat.

It was an absolutely fantastic day that I will remember fondly!
