El Viso del Alcor

05.01.2023: Playa de la Bota - Matalascanas - Sanlucar el Mayor - El Viso del Alcor: We drive along the huge industrial and port area of Huelva to the long beach of Matalascanas. From there we continue to the PS 10 solar thermal power plant - Europe's first commercial solar tower power plant. It is located in the plain of Sanluca la Mayor near Seville. Mirrors reflect the sunlight and focus it on a common so-called receiver, which is located on a 115 m high tower. Steam is generated with the concentrated heat there (at least that's what Wikipedia says....) The reflected sun rays become visible due to the dust in the air.
