18.01.19 - Australia Zoo

Today I finally visited the Australia Zoo! I had read a lot about it at home and had also met many travelers who recommended it to me.

The zoo was run by Steve Irwin and is now being continued by his wife and two children after his death.

I must honestly say that I wasn't soooo excited at first. But probably the expectations were just very high. At noon there was a crocodile show in a kind of stadium... Probably the highlight of the zoo, all visitors were there. For me, everything seemed very staged and I wondered if it was all appropriate for the animals... But the zoo is known for its efforts in wildlife conservation...🤔 During the show, Steve Irwin's wife and children also appeared... which made the whole thing a bit more personal and likeable, I have no idea why 😬

After the show, my personal highlight came. Feeding the koalas, where all kinds of information about the koalas were shared, and afterwards, we could take a photo with a koala! I really wanted to do that because I wanted to hold a koala at least once... So I got in line for the photo. After finally holding the photo in my hands, I also looked at the last big part of the zoo: Africa. And I have to say that it is the most beautiful part of the zoo. Spacious enclosures and several different animals.

At the end of the day, I was pretty tired because I had walked a lot, but I had a wonderful day!
