Nice weather in Porto Covo - November 26th

പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു: 11.12.2019

The night was much quieter, but in the morning it's pouring rain. A half lake has formed in front of the bus and the rain cover is dripping from the inside. We quickly pack everything up, stuff the wet stuff into garbage bags, and drive off. We make a quick stop at the campsite restaurant, eat a croissant and have a coffee before we set off.

However, we only drive 500 meters and make another quick stop at Decathlon. What else can you do in this weather...either drink or spend money...!

Then we say goodbye to Lisbon, and we were really looking forward to crossing the long suspension bridge that offers a fantastic view of the city...but the view is similar to Cabo Roco...just a gray wall!

Our next destination is the Alentejo coast and we choose the fishing village of Porto Covo. Of course, we take the country road and admire the countless cork trees...cork is very trendy here, cork bags, cork sunglasses, cork postcards...everything is made of cork here...that's why they have so many cork trees!

We find our base for the next few days in the form of a really beautiful spot, very close to the sea. We settle in and have dinner at the campsite restaurant in the evening. The food is once again excellent and we can't believe how well we have eaten at the campsites so far.

We're not fully stuffed, but we're satisfied, so we relax in front of the bus before going to sleep.

The next day, it finally happens again, it's hard to believe, but...we're sitting outside the bus in shorts in the sun, we hope it continues like this!

We take advantage of the warm temperatures and finally get the bus back in order, with laundry and everything! It's nice to have a base again and we decide to stay here a little longer. In the early afternoon, we head to the village and enjoy a cappuccino in the sun on the small market square, and then walk along the coast. Porto Covo is located in the Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park, which stretches all the way to Sagres in the far south. A really beautiful area with lots of eucalyptus and cork forests and an impressive coastline.

Not much happens on this day either, we cook a delicious meal and just hang out in front of the bus a bit. We take a relaxed approach to the next morning, have Greek yogurt for breakfast, and then relax...from breakfast! The weather is sunny with some clouds, but the temperatures are mild, around 16 degrees. In the afternoon, we head out and walk through the fields to the coast and enjoy the beach cove all to ourselves. In the evening, we have a good meal and I go to bed early with a book because it gets really chilly in the evenings!

The next morning, our neighbors from Rudolstadt leave and tell us to come to Rudolstadt in July to see the biggest folk music festival far and wide. OK...we'll do our best!

In the morning, I finally put the book aside and sit down at the computer again...and as I'm sitting there writing, I wonder what that noise is behind me...it's coming from Austria, three pitches away. And when I turn around, I can't believe my eyes...he's sitting there like a king and she's using an electric device to remove the calluses from his feet...what's going on here? I've seen a lot, but that...crazy!

I try not to think about it any further and focus on my work on the computer. It's better that way!

In the meantime, Jörni takes care of the dogs and goes for a walk.

In the afternoon, we go together to the pool and have a cappuccino...it looks great and we would love to jump in, but it's too cold for that...! I use the internet and fill the blog with the new information, and while we're sitting there, we see Switzerland arriving.

In the evening, we decide to go to the village together and have pizza. Great plan, we chat over a coffee afterwards and talk about what everyone has experienced in the last few weeks. Then quickly back to the bus...it's really chilly, but on the way to brushing our teeth, we get to see a beautiful starry sky!

Originally, we planned to continue our journey the next day, but Switzerland is tempting us with a delicious barbecue...mmhhh...we have breakfast at the café by the pool and decide that we really don't need to rush and that we really like it here. So we stay, go for a nice walk, and enjoy a wonderful barbecue in the evening! The next day, the groundhog greets us...same question: Stay or continue? - Switzerland's enticing offer: We would like to invite you for another barbecue! Well...we'll never get any further this way...but it's Sunday and also the first Sunday of Advent...so alright, we'll stay a bit longer! The first Sunday of Advent...crazy...it's already December! Time flies...soon we'll head back home...let's not think about that...! Better to take a leisurely walk in the afternoon sun and look forward to the evening Advent barbecue in front of the bus!

PS: On the way, we see some election posters of the CDU...mmmhhh...are they already trying to find voters in Portugal...what's going on? ;)
