Day 2 On the road to Phoenix

After waking up early this morning, we had a hearty American breakfast. Then we set off to pick up the camper. First, there was a film that explained how to operate a camper. Then we had to fill out those forms. Shortly after ten o'clock, we were able to pick up our RV. A huge thing!

Our first stop was at a supermarket to buy the most essential things. An impressive experience, that supermarket. They have everything: groceries, clothes, car accessories, camping gear, weapons, etc......

Now we headed to Phoenix. But first, we had to leave the traffic chaos of LA behind us. The further away from LA, the less traffic there was on the highway. But the vegetation also became sparser. Just before the Arizona border, we had to stop in the middle of the desert. We noticed that all the chocolate we wanted to bring to the host family was still in the cooled storage compartment. We got out briefly, it was like being in an oven. I've never experienced such heat before.

We arrived at the agreed restaurant shortly after seven, where we were able to reunite with Marielle after almost a year. After dinner with the host family, we drove to their house. We can spend the next three nights in their house. This is a stroke of luck for us, as otherwise we would roast in the camper in this scorching heat.
