Arrived in the middle of the night at the airport in Denpasar, Bali. First we went through the fairly quick and easy immigration and then off to the hostel at 2 a.m. The next day we slept in and looked for a nice cafรฉ for breakfast. We got a coffee pass and found our regular cafรฉ. We then continued towards the beach, but this walk took quite a long time because we noticed how many nice little shops there were along the street and we had to go into each one first. But that was the moment when I learned to love Bali. On the beach we were immediately impressed by the high waves and the good surfers in the sea. I always thought that Bali was a paradise for surfing beginners but obviously also for the really good surfers. After we just sat on the beach for a while and were fascinated by all the surfers, we went back to the hostel. I expected to like Indonesia but I thought Bali would be too touristy for me but no, on the contrary, I loved it from the very first moment. Sure, it is quite touristy but I didn't find it annoying or overwhelming. In the evening we sat down in a beach club to end the first day in Canggu. But this club was a bit too much for us and we witnessed an almost brawl between Indians and Australians. At that moment we decided to go back to the travelers' places the next day. The next day we started very early, even before sunrise, so we could see the sunrise from the surfboard. It was Antonia's first time surfing and she definitely did pretty well and was miles better than I did. We also both had our own surf instructors who looked after us very well and made sure we caught every wave perfectly. I always thought that the waves in New Zealand were challenging but Bali proved me wrong. These waves were really strong but just super cool for surfing. Watching the sunrise from the board was just so good and made me start the day super happy. We spent the rest of the day on the scooter again and got used to the very chaotic Indonesian traffic. We then drove to a temple in the sea and looked at a beach in the area. Then we lingered on the black beach in the afternoon. But when it started to rain we drove back to the hostel in the rain. This time we tried to go out in the evening in one of the more popular bars in Canggu but the atmosphere there wasn't great either so we went home a little earlier. The next day was another travel day but only from Canggu to Ubud, which is about an hour's drive. So we spent the morning in Canggu with a good breakfast and of course not forgetting the view of the surfers. Then it was off to a grave and we carried on! Because we liked Canggu so much on our first visit, we decided to spend our last days together in Indonesia in Canggu again. We spent the first day shopping for souvenirs and browsing from market to market. Or as we liked to call it, we "waddled" from market to market. We made the afternoon of our last full day together an unforgettable one and made our own silver ring. On the day of departure we went back to Ubud to spend the afternoon getting a tattoo. So we both have a souvenir together for eternity! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ
