India - First Stop - Goa

പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു: 30.08.2016

After a somewhat complicated entry into India with a transfer in Mumbai, we arrive in Goa.
This airport is mostly used by the military, so there is nothing there except a taxi stand. Finally, we manage to withdraw Indian rupees and arrange for a taxi at a dubious counter.
We are taken to a slightly older vehicle. We get in, still tired from the flight. In front of us, we see an ancient taximeter. As we start driving, we notice how people drive here. Lots of acceleration, aggressive driving, abrupt braking, and most importantly, honking! Instead of braking before tight corners, they honk, and they honk at everything, every object, person, or animal. Brakes are only used in the worst case scenario, when you're about to have an accident. We are in for a wild ride, and I feel like I'm on a roller coaster without a seatbelt. Our driver apparently wants to reach the destination particularly quickly. Despite the speed, we have a little chat with our taxi driver and he tells us some interesting things about Goa.

Fortunately, a nice hostel awaits us where we can make ourselves comfortable in the room and rest.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of rain in Goa at the moment, so the beaches are not nice. Nevertheless, we enjoy the 10 degrees lower temperature here.
We also try the first Indian dishes and explore the surroundings.
We also take a tour to the nearby fort. We climb the little hill and look out over the coast and the seemingly endless nature of India.
After a few relaxing days, we continue. A taxi takes us to the train station where we have to master our first train ride in India.
