Las Vegas - Final Act

Just a little addition to yesterday - yesterday we had to fill up our car for the first time. That's a hassle in itself. You pay first, set a limit, and then go back to the gas pump and fill up. You can also swipe your credit card directly at the pump, but it is strongly discouraged. We filled up for $20 and had more than half a tank left. Pretty cheap.

Our day today started just like yesterday - trying to sleep in - getting up early - looking for breakfast and suddenly our table was full of food. Today we went for pancakes and bagels. Once again, way too much. But there was coffee again with free refills. For breakfast, we had the same experience as a few days ago. Water was served for free, of course with lots of ice cubes. Everything tasted like chlorine. It was not very tasty, more like taking a deep sip from the swimming pool.

After breakfast, we went back to the roulette table. Put in $20 and bet on red and black however we felt like. We went down to $3, then up to $28, and then back down to $0. Tough luck. But it's still fun.

In high spirits, we went to the pool. The cool-down only lasts for a short moment at a scorching 45 degrees. You're back to normal temperature before you even reach your sunbed. And you can't stand being in the sun or under the umbrella for too long.

Today, we took a refreshing nap in the cool room to be fit for the evening. Nearby, we raided the 99 Cent Store and stocked up on sweets and water.

Originally, we had planned to visit the Grand Canyon today. But we canceled the trip due to the lack of options. Driving 10 hours there and back is not recommended, and the helicopter tours were all priced at 600-700 Euros for both of us. We'll just spend the money somewhere else. However, we discovered the Red Rock Canyon, which is only half an hour away. A one-way road takes you past the canyon with multiple lookout points, giving you an impression of the natural forces at play in this country. Constantly in the background, you see a wide desert landscape dotted with canyons of various sizes. Simply a magnificent view.

From there, we went to Taco Bell for dinner. Two fat burritos filled with rice, ground beef, and two types of cheese. Just yummy. We are also engaging in a bit of food tourism here. We haven't tried so many restaurants at home.

Our last challenge today was to explore and walk along the southern part of the Strip and its casinos. This part offers many smaller shops, such as the Hershey's Chocolate World (just super American chocolate), M&M's Store, and many more. Our final stop was Caesars Palace, which is built like a large Roman city inside. Once again, everything is just huge and sprawling. You could easily get lost in it all night and probably still not see everything. We had to park our car at the edge of the southern part and walk all the way back. It takes up a lot of time and energy. We are simply exhausted and running late to go to bed tonight. It's almost 2 o'clock and it's urgent to sleep.

So, the chapter of Las Vegas is closed again, and tomorrow we have to check out of our hotel by 12 and embark on the 4-hour drive, so tomorrow's next stop is Los Angeles.
