8th stage part 1: Off to Burgos

I woke up at 6:15 and then slowly got ready. Rain was forecast, but it didn't come. But it was cold. That's why I wrapped myself up thick and set off. The way to Burgos ran along the highway and then through the industrial area. These paths are also part of it, even if the view of nature is of course more beautiful. I grabbed breakfast straight away in Burgos. At the beginning of town I treated myself to a coffee and a scrambled egg roll, which was delicious. Then I went to the cathedral and visited it for €5. It's really stimulating and impressive. And for €2 I booked a VR tour, which allowed me to be teleported to different places in the cathedral using VR glasses. For people who are afraid of heights, this is quite something to overcome because you really feel like you are standing on the dome of the cathedral. I would have liked to have spent more time there and attended mass, but there wasn't enough time for that. I then left the cathedral and looked for the way. I generally liked Burgos, although I generally don't feel at home in the larger cities. Because there I feel reminded of Cologne, my home, and somehow that doesn't fit with hiking. And the many people who live their everyday lives and the young people who go out to party in the evenings. This quickly becomes too much for me. I was also in Burgos in the morning, where many things were still closed. And because I still had a longer way to go, I wasn't able to enjoy my time there quite as much. On the way out of town the sun came out again.
