Day 11: Locronan and Quimper

പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു: 26.08.2021

The sun wakes us up and we take it easy today. The total travel time is one hour today. So we reach Locronan after 15 minutes. Locronan is a small village that is closed to traffic. We find a parking space and after a few meters we are in the center of the village. The appearance is still completely medieval and very worth seeing. In the center is the old church. There are many small shops and restaurants. We take a walk, visit some shops, try local cookies and soak up the atmosphere. Then we drive the 18 kilometers to Quimper. After an extensive search for a parking space, we finally find one near the center. We take a long walk through the narrow streets of the old town, which extends at the foot of the large cathedral. The Saint-Corentin cathedral was built in 1239 and is an impressive building. I am always impressed by the construction of these buildings. There are also cloisters and stained glass windows here. We buy the delicious macarons in a shop. The macaron is a French meringue pastry made from almond flour that dates back to the Middle Ages. In France, many variations of traditional macarons are baked, but today the colorful macaron in the form of a small double disk with a cream layer in between is the most common. We enjoy this delicacy. Then our path leads along the half-timbered houses and squares of the city center. The streets are crowded and people are sitting in the countless restaurants and cafes. We also look for a place and order our lunch. The Odet river flows through the city and the many bridges are adorned with flowers in the most beautiful colors. After about 2 hours, we leave Quimper and reach our campsite at 3pm. We take advantage of the nice weather and the nearby beach for an extensive visit. The Atlantic is refreshing, but it's only a short stay for me. The boys are tougher. We stay there for 2 hours and relax. Then we jump into the pool for a short while, the sand has to come off properly. In the evening, we sit outside again, the children try to fall asleep, but they are excited. Eventually, they give in.
