Our trip to Suisse Normande

Well, a mischievous person came up with that name. Our Saxon Switzerland is much more Swiss. For us, it was a trip to the picturesque hinterland. There are fewer tourists here and more tranquility. We stood alone on our campsite with magnificent views over the harvested, sun-yellow stubble fields and all the stars of the northern hemisphere just for ourselves. There was a dry toilet and a solar shower. The dry toilet once again delighted me - no matter what the 'little shit' in front of you just did, it smells totally like fresh hay, which replaced the water flush. The solar shower had everything from lukewarm to hot, was clean and well ventilated. We were jumping around like Adam & Eve. But you can also do a lot of activities here. We went cycling a lot (moderate, like in Brandenburg on an old railway line and through the villages up and down, lamenting my E-bike that stayed at home), canoeing (only a good 2-hour tour due to the water level) and ... climbing. There was even a highlight: going down damn fast with the zip line. That was fun! I would have loved to climb up again immediately to slide down. On our one cloudy rainy day, we lounged around, read and ... got to know our host family a little better. We joined the woman with her 4 sons for a walk and had a 'lot' of chat (until the phone ran out of battery and the Google Translate didn't help anymore). Then the conversation became a bit quieter. My language skills are enough to get around the country (and I'm already very proud of that), but it doesn't have much to do with communication.

This is indeed a thing with communication. I suspect that motorhome enthusiasts are like hermits on wheels. There they stand - often tightly packed - next to each other, hidden behind their cars, and you see and hear nothing (no matter if they're Belgians, Dutch, English, Germans, French or Americans - you can tell right away by their license plates, which is practical). So it seems that I won't be able to use my 10,000 words in the next few months either.

Tomorrow morning we will dive into a gorge and then head back to the sea. The holidays are ending for the French and we hope to have an empty Mt. Saint-Michel. ,-)
