Cape Le Grand - Birgit & Peter in Wonderland

പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു: 15.03.2019

Arrival (Day 1):

We are awakened by the first rays of sun just before 6 o'clock. By the time we are ready to start (about 30 minutes later), the sun has already hidden behind thick clouds. Nevertheless, we make our way to the beach at Seal Creek. To get there, you have to trudge up and down the snow-white sand dunes for about 10 minutes. It's a good thing that the sand is so fine-grained and firm. The beach has a totally peaceful atmosphere. Just us, a couple of Cape Barren Geese flying overhead, the clouds passing by, and the gently waving sea. For a few minutes, the sun pushes forward again, only to disappear for most of the day.

Afterwards, we head to Esperance to replenish our supplies and get online again. Unfortunately, the road is closed on the way. Since the detour would take hours, we simply ignore the closure. And everything goes well. We are able to pass through the construction site that seems to be the reason for the closure without any problems.

In the afternoon, we finally arrive at Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park. Even in this weather, the bay looks absolutely stunning! The campsite here has been completely renovated. New toilets and even hot showers!

After dark, the clouds disperse, giving us a clear view of the impressive starry sky.

Birgit & Peter in Wonderland (Day 2):

Wow, just when you think you've already experienced the highlight of the trip, another day like today comes along...

In the morning, just before 6 o'clock, we watch the sunrise over Lucky Bay from our rooftop tent (still lying in bed). It makes us hungry for more. Half an hour later, we are already on our way to the beach. Everything is still so peaceful and quiet. Two and a half hours pass by in a flash because there is so much to see. Photogenic rocks, the snow-white sand, kangaroos, and the turquoise blue water that you can't get enough of.

After breakfast, we climb Frenchman Peak. It's quite steep and there is exceptional flora to admire along the way. Although we go up in a small group, we are alone at the top after just a few minutes and enjoy the view in peace. Up here, you could dream for hours.

Back down, we join the other four-wheel drive vehicles at the Lucky Bay beach with our Red Sands. Quickly put on our swimwear and dive into the blue-green water! After a few minutes, a small crowd has gathered around our vehicle. No wonder, because two kangaroos have made themselves comfortable in the shade of the hood.

Refreshed like this, we feel like hiking to the next bay, Thistle Cove. What a photogenic trail. You could constantly take out your camera. Bizarrely shaped rocks against the backdrop of magnificent sandy beaches. And at the destination, another inviting beach. You just have to jump in.

Days like today could go on indefinitely!

PS: Pictures will come later due to the terrible internet connection. It only works here sporadically.
