In mid-August, a boat party organized by UNESN took place in Sydney Harbour on a Saturday afternoon. Britta spent the entire weekend in Sydney with a few girls. They started off on Friday morning by train, but with some delays.
Once they arrived in Sydney, they entered the hostel, which Britta would have rather left immediately, but that's how it is when you don't book it yourself. After dropping off their things, they took the train to Bondi Beach, Sydney's most famous beach. Some of the girls even went swimming in 15 degrees, but our Britta stayed at the beach as she was still fighting a cold.
Since they came back from the beach too late for a guided tour of The Rocks, the oldest part of Sydney, they spent the rest of the evening strolling through Sydney looking for something tasty to eat. Later, they ended up in a pub where one of the girl's acquaintances was sitting with friends.
The next day, they had a relaxed breakfast, visited the Cathedral in Sydney, and then headed to the boat party.
Stefan and Aaron traveled to Sydney on Saturday with the organizers and most of the other students. On Saturday morning, we took 3 buses from Newcastle University to Sydney, which took about 3 hours. There were already some drinks circulating on the bus and the party started on the way there with good vibes and loud music.
Once we arrived in Sydney, we finally went to the wharf where all the participants met and the boat was already waiting. When everyone was on board, which was pretty crowded with over 150 students and some staff members, we finally set off in the early afternoon. Over the next 4-5 hours, we cruised through Sydney Harbour, celebrating with free drinks, free pizza, and various music. Inside, there was a small dance floor next to the DJ, which was always pretty crowded, as well as the outside deck, where you had a great view of various parts of the city all the time. However, it was often very windy and therefore quite cold from time to time, so we frequently switched between inside and outside. Overall, it was a cool party with a great atmosphere in the wonderful harbour of Sydney!
Boat party participants were also granted free entry to a popular nightclub in Sydney until midnight. The students split up - while some took the bus back to Newcastle, others continued to party in Sydney. Since the boys didn't have accommodation, they went home in the evening, while Britta wanted to continue partying with her group.
After the boat docked, there were about 2 hours until the bus was supposed to drive back to Newcastle. Stefan and Aaron took this time to have dinner with some other students in the city.
Britta also went out for dinner with some people who wanted to go to the after-boat party later. After that, they went to a bottle shop and together to the park. In front of the club, there was a "surprise" - one of the girls was so drunk that the bouncers didn't want to let her into the club anymore. So Britta took care of a crying Tina and eventually convinced her to take a taxi back to the hostel with her. Unfortunately, the taxi ride turned into a scavenger hunt as the driver didn't want to take them anymore. So they walked the rest of the way to the hostel. Once she had dropped off Tina at the hostel, Britta took the next taxi back to the party.
She was lucky to arrive just before midnight, so she could still get in for free and party with the rest of the girls.
The next day, check-out was at 10 am. The little drunken mess from the night before went straight home, while the others had breakfast again and then went to Madame Tussauds. Afterwards, to the disappointment of the girls, they had to take a replacement bus service back home.
