Chiang Mai- 2nd Day

Today we set off to the Doi Suthep National Park with the scooter from our accommodation and were stopped by the traffic police less than 10 minutes later. We managed to stop just in time and had to cross the road to the checkpoint: 'Drivers License, please.' We had all the necessary documents ready and were on our way again after a minute. Most of the others were not so lucky, as many of them were written up and couldn't continue as quickly. The fact that my license is only Class B didn't seem to interest the police officer. :D

We had lunch at the large food hall we discovered yesterday, because it offers a huge selection of delicious food and large portions. After eating, we drove through the chaotic traffic, where we were constantly being overtaken, and continued to the park where it finally became a bit quieter. There is only one road along which we drove to the edge after a few kilometers and then went down a small forest path to the watercourse. We climbed a bit upstream and were fascinated by nature. On the way back, Sophie slipped and slid down a small waterfall. Fortunately, it was not a big deal, so we were able to continue and visited the temple on the mountain top. We decided to drive a bit further into the park, as there is a village of an ethnic hill tribe with a flower garden. We also managed to reach it through adventurous roads and drove directly through the densely built village with many road stalls to the flower park and 'Waterfall Garden,' where we relaxed for a while. Our hope that our scooter would handle the sometimes steep way back was soon confirmed, and now we have arrived safely back at our accommodation.
