Wolohans Silverstrand is one of the few campsites in Ireland that accept the Acsi discount card, so again we only pay €23 per night. And what a place, with a fantastic view 😍, on a green hill above the sea. From the motorhome you can see directly into a small bathing bay.
As we sat there and looked down, I saw something coming out of the water. Nessie? Oh no, wrong country 😂. A human? No… A dog? No, the “thing” drags itself onto the beach really cumbersomely. Is that… a seal?? 😳😀 Hard to believe! But when we dug out our old binoculars, we saw it: Not just one, definitely 10 seals had made themselves comfortable on the beach, big, dark and small, light baby seals 😍😍😍
I was completely amazed.
In the evening our daughter and our future son-in-law came to pick us up. They didn't think it was that unusual, the seals appear here on the coast quite often, even close to the swimmers, they are not very shy.
The next day we went down to the beach. A little howler was lying right on the stairs - so cute 🥰 I've never seen the animals in the wild before, and especially not so close!
I couldn't get enough of it, it will be one of the experiences in Ireland that I will always remember. 🦭
Otherwise we visited Wicklow and of course spent a lot of time with our daughter and her fiancé, met our "grandcats" 😻😻 and Andrew's family, went out to eat on the seafront in Bray, in Brittas Bay (yes, I obviously have my own bay there 😏) put our feet in the water and we women actually went to look at the wedding dress together on Saturday 👰♀️😍. A great time together! 🫶 And the weather: incredible, it was warm and sunny (except for 1/2 day ☀️
However, the language barrier was bigger than we thought. While we understood the people in England quite well, in Ireland we were sometimes really lost. This dialect no longer has anything to do with the English we once learned at school, which could be quite tiring.
The internet was terrible though and that's why I'm only now continuing to write the blog. We barely had reception.
Today we went on to the west of Ireland for a week before returning to Wicklow.
