Glacier National Park

After a long bus ride, we arrived in El Chalafate. We stayed in a small hostel on the outskirts of the city for a few days.

From there, we took a bus for a day trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier.

You could hear the ice cracking. The glacier moves forward up to 3 meters every day, only to break at the edge - an amazing spectacle!

Beautiful blue...

Yes, it was cold ;)

From there, we continued to El Chaltén.
You can see Cerro Fitz Roy in the background. We planned to hike to Laguna de los Tres the next day, a mountain lake at 1170 meters at the base of Fitz Roy.

We started in sunshine and a little wind, passing a small waterfall...

After the first small ascent, it became windier...

We approached the mountain...

...but we couldn't make it to the lagoon on the final ascent.

On the way back to El Chaltén, we decided to try the route again. We tried to get ice spikes for our shoes, but unfortunately, all the spikes at the only open outdoor shop were already rented out.

Since we already knew the trail, we decided to hike in the dark to be at the top for sunrise.

This time, we had better weather and hardly any wind. We reached the lagoon just in time for sunrise.

We made it!

A few days later, we hiked to Laguna Torre...

And walked to the viewpoint Los Cóndores.

Wow super.
