Cancun con calma

I came to Cancun, Mexico with the aim of completely relaxing my life after hard ranch work. And I was not disappointed. The hostel and the beach were separated by just one street. The sea looks unrealistically turquoise and salsa and reggae music fills the air everywhere. I have now perfected the con calma lifestyle. Rule 1: Taking a nap is okay. Rule 2: It's okay to spend a whole day lying on the beach. Rule 3: Time is very flexible in every way. Rule 4: Music must always be present.

Additionally, I was lucky enough to meet seven wonderful people who made my first week in Cancun unforgettable.

Still under the good influence of the ranch in Costa Rica, I woke up no later than 7:30 am every morning and cooked my dinner in the hostel to save money. But little by little, burritos, tacos, and churros won over.

Outside the hostels, the Mexicans here tend to keep to themselves. They are your best friends when they sense your interest in their goods and your money. But as soon as you express doubts about wanting to buy the things after all, RUN for your life!! Just kidding... they just become a bit unfriendly and stop smiling.

Something else I had to learn: shaking your booty is not salsa! To avoid drawing too much negative attention to myself in the club, I took a crash course in salsa dancing before the first party. Because here, EVERYONE can dance. An ordinary evening at the bar ends with dancing with friends. And it (mostly) isn't an intimate dance for couples or in the club, like we know it in Germany, but simply accepting a friendly, fun, and friendly dance invitation. I am in favor of introducing that in our country. Friends and family should dance more with each other!

Saludos amigos, I'm going to jump into the pool...con calma.
