Day 6 Credit Card and National Holiday

The day starts very relaxed at the new hostel. Actually, I wanted to visit the Reunification Palace with Trini. But I noticed that my credit card was missing. Since I receive an SMS notification if it is used, it was clear that no one had used it. So, stay calm and think. I had only used it once at the airport. The most likely scenario is that I forgot the card at the airport. So, take the bus to the airport and then to the ATM. There was a counter next to it. When I asked there, they gave me 40 credit cards and mine was actually among them. I could just take it without having to identify myself. What luck! That will definitely not happen to me again. I have to say that Vietnam feels very, very safe overall. And another advantage, I'm relatively tall here.

Quickly bought a SIM card for 100,000 dong with 5GB in 30 days. Handy for Google Maps (find a bus and orientation as well as translation) and Grab. Maps.me is also a good app, where you can download maps and use them offline with GPS. Useless, on the other hand, is the app for buses, when you switch to English, everything is still in Vietnamese.

After the airport, we went to the city to see a few things and visit the market. Fresh really means fresh there (fish, frogs, and other unknown seafood). There I met Martin and Martina from Poland, we knew each other from the hostel (unfortunately no photo). The two of them are on their 3-month honeymoon via backpacking. Great thing.

Martin likes to drink a lot of beer, perfect. We tried a lot of beer in a bar, then we had Malaysian dinner. It was Independence Day in Vietnam (from the French) on that day. Bought a few more beers and then watched the fireworks. Then back via Grab (and had another beer).
