Stage 7 Back in the EU

Frei nach Scooter 🛵,

today it really got going, after my yoghurt I drove the probably worst possible route to and through Besarabia, pretty close to the coast. In some places there was no road left and I had to somehow make my way through the rubble, deserted area for maybe 50km at an average speed of 25-30 km/h, in my head it was all about whether the breakdown cover with towing service applies here too? And whether anyone would come by here at all and how I'm going to get the Guzzste away with a flat tire? All gray theory and hypothetical, then I met a fellow sufferer on the roadside and chatted briefly, we agreed not to let ourselves be annoyed. He greeted with a long IeehAhh. At some point the torture of the 'track' subsided and there were a few smooth asphalt kilometers, passing by the edge of the Danube Delta towards the Ukrainian, Moldovan, Romanian border and instead of operating one border checkpoint for everyone, you have to go through all 4 checkpoints for maybe 500m through Moldova, exit Ukraine, enter Moldova, exit Moldova, enter Romania. 🤦🏻‍♂️ At least the customs officers were in a good mood and took care of things, collected documents and had them processed for me, whenever they wanted something from me they would say 'Germany' come here, 'Germany' Greencard, 'Germany' done, go!

The bike was admired and touched extensively, I was allowed to use the diplomat lane. Whether it was good, and why is 'Deutsche Welle' in Italian? And why is there a sticker on the rear where someone is peeing on Japan? I then explained that Italian motorcycles have class and style, with a look at the 2 proudly upright cylinders, like Italian women, and the Japanese are just boring (I hope I don't offend anyone, especially not my little SRX).

Now I'm in Braila, after Galati with its gigantic steelworks looked too much like Hamhung, North Korea.

Braila, by the way, has a small pretty center, actually a village in the center, which is a World Heritage Site and should be properly awakened, surely a potential port for Danube cruises, small sweet houses with flair and all around a city that doesn't look like much.

By the way, I wondered why it's so quiet here, I found out, today is Whit Monday (Orthodox ☦) and therefore a public holiday.

Tomorrow I will go to the heart of Transylvania to Sighisoara, I drove through it once and thought you have to go back here because it's beautiful.

By the way, I've now left my cheese in the cooler for the 2nd time 🤦🏼‍♂️🙆🏼‍♂️
