Trujillo - Top program without us

प्रकाशित: 03.04.2018

The city has almost 710,000 inhabitants and is therefore the largest metropolitan area in Peru after Lima. The port was - as so often before - a pure industrial port and ugly. But from Trujillo you can visit some of the most famous archaeological sites of the Incas and their predecessor cultures.

The keywords for those of you who want to take a look are: Chan Chan, Huanchaco, Sun and Moon pyramids (Las Huacas del Sol y de la Luna) and El Brujo.

What can I say: yes, we are culture barbarians and yes, you only go there once, but we still didn't look at it. We saw Machu Picchu, that was our highlight. We also visited the small museum in the city.

The ancient vessels are well-preserved due to the dry climate and are basically so modern today that some could be sold in any home decor store without any problems. The beautiful, delicate fox mask with gold plates is also a great cultural asset. The Spaniards certainly didn't find that, otherwise they would have taken the gold and destroyed the mask.

Attention: on the last picture from the museum there is a mummy, if you find that nasty, you have to get off beforehand.

So we took a city tour, visited the cathedral and the museum, and had a coffee with Peruvian families. There wasn't a single tourist in the restaurant. We also had fresh juice from mangoes, pineapples, oranges, and limes with our coffee. Delicious.
