So far I just found Tokyo exciting, but not particularly beautiful. It's good if you leave out the view from the observation tower, because the city was really beautiful from up there.
But now Tokyo has won my heart. And, it's really funny, all the cities that have made it into my heart have something in common. WATER.
Hamburg has the Elbe, Cologne the Rhine, Munich has the Isar, San Francisco the sea, New York the Hudson, Bangkok the Chao Phraya... and Tokyo has the Bay. And that's exactly what the city caught me with - as soon as we got off the train and I saw the view.
And this excursion wasn't even in the top 10 recommendations for the city. I picked it out anyway and didn’t regret it — so beautiful!!
Siar, for example, is not at all enthusiastic about this sort of thing. But he also thought it was good and just said “beautiful, like on the Elbe beach”. I think that can be taken as a compliment.
After a long walk along the water, we went to the Manga district in Akihabara. Completely crazy world. Everything lights up colorfully, about all the anime, manga and things like that.
Not my world at all but still exciting to see. We spent the whole afternoon and into the evening eating pasta in a small restaurant. Siar liked it here, although his knowledge of Pokémon, for example, seems very outdated.
At the end of the day I have to say that it was too crowded for me personally 😂 but it was definitely worth seeing.
By the way, we have already picked up our ticket for our onward journey. We go to Fujisan (Fujyama, Mount Fuji) by bus. Keep your fingers crossed that we can see him. Because very, very often the top is above the clouds.
Conclusion on Tokyo? The city has conquered me. Not like others, but in her own way. Because she is different. Full, lively and yet so incredibly quiet. And somehow special.
