Col...Col...Colmar

Apparently not many people did the thumb pressing... at least I lost :-( But: Bad luck in the game - good luck in love!

I'm sorry that all breakfast blog readers have to wait a bit today, but after over 270 km over the passes, I had to carefully sort my bones last night. We started in the morning on the expressway to Scherwiller, through the Val d'Argent (there are really still silver mines here). During the climb to Col de Bagenelles, we took the first short break in a hiker's hut.

Yesterday we took some bags of nutritious treats with us in Gertwiller, which is known for its pain d'epices (we first thought it was spiced bread... no, it's more like gingerbread here). And that was the perfect snack for our mountain tour today.

At Col de Bagenelles, the motorcycle proved its genuine mountain goat qualities again several times throughout the day!

Here we had a great view back into the Val d'Argent...

We continued to the Col de Bonhomme. Here we could see that chairlifts can also be used differently outside the skiing season:

Here the mountain bikers plunged into the depths... Respect!

@Werner: the Col de Bonhomme can also be seen on August 3rd during the Tour d'Alsace!

We continued over beautiful galleries with wonderful views...

... past Lac Blanc to Col de la Schlucht and Col des Bramont's. We had to somehow get to our bathing spot near Kruth Wildenstein.

But it was too cold to swim there, so we just took a short rest.

We still wanted to go to Colmar, and it was already 3 PM and we were still in the middle of the mountains...

We continued via Schnepfenried to Munster (where the same-named stinky cheese comes from).

On the way, we were very close to the paragliders.

After many hairpin bends steeply downhill through Munster and Wintzenheim, we finally arrived in Colmar.

On the way to the long-awaited coffee, we visited the first church directly!

Another organ by Silbermann:

The Dominican monastery (with another Silbermann organ) is being completely restored and was unfortunately closed :-(

We couldn't get into the 3rd church anymore because it was already 6 PM.

So we strolled through Petit Venice for a bit:

And then we enjoyed typical Alsatian cuisine at the Pfeffel restaurant. It was very delicious: homemade farmer's terrine, sauerkraut with various smoked sausages, boiled beef, and delicious cheese (Munster?). We were pretty hungry!

After that, we took the expressway back to Molsheim, with all the mountains on the left that we had climbed during the day... phew, quite a lot.

Greetings from us to all blog readers! Maybe just in time for breakfast?

The church bells woke me up at 7 AM, your luck 😍
