Croatia for the last time

In the last two weeks, we have acted like classic tourists and enjoyed the sea in Istria.

Through Rijeka/Opatija on the eastern coast of Istria, where we stayed for a night, we first came near Rovinj to a campsite, later we were near Porec and finally near Novigrad. Here on the western coast of Istria, there are practically only giant campsites with all the bells and whistles. That's actually not really our thing, but we made the best of it. And again, enjoyed the water and the sun.

We also visited some of the beautiful towns, Rovinj is really great, but it was too crowded with tourists for us. Porec was more cozy and we were impressed by the playground in the middle of the old town.

Something we couldn't miss was the really well-made Dinosaur Park, which we could reach by bike from our campsite. A boat tour was also part of the program, it's always simply beautiful to be able to observe the graceful dolphins.

Unfortunately, there are also other inhabitants in the sea: the barrel jellyfish. It's a walnut-sized, completely harmless jellyfish that makes the sea murky and slimy. The boys caught them diligently and we found out that they glow fluorescent when moved in the dark - but apart from that, they slightly spoil our bathing fun in the sea and drive us to the pool.

But the excursion highlight was clearly Motovun. We had already been there 10 years ago and were already impressed back then. It was worth taking the trip to the hinterland again. Motovun is a small town clinging to a hill, mainly known for its truffles. We enjoyed the great evening atmosphere including sunset and indulged ourselves.

Croatia was the country where we stayed the second longest after Greece. Tourism is professionally operated here and works very well. We are impressed by the diverse nature and the many beautiful and historically significant places.
