Today everything was perfect, a wonderful day: great weather, lots of sun, no rain, no headwind, no uphill. We haven't had that in the past three weeks. It went like clockwork. In addition, there was a wonderful route, great asphalt, long stretches of bike paths without cars or oncoming traffic, like a bike highway. The path went through pine forests (see photos, after the rain of the last few days, the bike path was covered in pine needles). On the side of the road, there were sand dunes, as if (and that's true) the sea was just around the corner. Since this morning, we have been on the Camino de Santiago, which we had planned as our own tour, after all, we were on parts of the Camino de Santiago on this tour (see photo), but we haven't seen a single hiker so far. Up until now. We have covered 65 km until lunchtime, only had an espresso in between. It didn't feel tiring, our legs are well trained by now and cope with everything very well, then we found a nice place for lunch and had salad. By mid-afternoon, we arrived at our destination, Castets, not sensational but very suitable accommodation. Overall, we have made good progress, almost 80 km yesterday, actually 80 km today, almost 160 km in total from Bordeaux to the southwest tip of France. Tonight, we planned our route over the Pyrenees in a tedious and slightly annoyed manner because it is difficult to find suitable accommodations in the right places. But now we are very satisfied because we have found a good route with accommodation in the middle of the Pyrenees. Otherwise, we will be cycling from Bayonne with accommodation until Pamplona.
