7.11. Tromsø - on fast runners

प्रकाशित: 09.11.2019

We wake up to bright sunshine and are excited for the next highlight. Today we will explore the winter landscape with 10 horsepower (dogs). At the Husky Camp Villmarkssenter, 300 four-legged friends are eagerly waiting to start running.

Wearing warm overalls and sitting under reindeer blankets, we sit in a sled together, with 10 huskies in front of us and sled leader Miriam behind us. When the first sleds start moving, the dogs can hardly contain their excitement.

And then we glide through the glittering powder snow in the sun with astonishing speed - unique! The huskies have a blast moving through the deep snow. We spend about an hour in untouched winter landscape.

Back at the camp, we offer cuddles as a thank you. We visit the puppies, the playful young huskies, and learn a lot about the life of the animals in the camp. Nobody can resist the loyal gaze from blue and brown dog eyes. Susi would have loved to stay at the camp or take at least one husky with her.

In a warm and cozy cabin, we enjoy Bidos, a traditional hot reindeer soup of the Sami people. We also have hot tea and chocolate cake for dessert.

Shortly before sunset (3 PM), we are back in Tromsø. We immediately find the next bus to the cable car Fjellheisen to reach the mountain Storsteinen at 461m above sea level. At the top, we have a great view of Tromsø and the surrounding mountains in the evening light. There is a bone-chilling coldness of below -10 °C in the clear air.

We walk back to the hotel. Tromsø is illuminated by lantern light.
In the Arctic Cathedral, the landmark of the city, daily midnight concerts take place due to the excellent acoustics.

Our eventful journey comes to an end with a final dinner and beer from the Mack Brewery. The next morning, we fly back home via Oslo.
