Kuay Teaw!

प्रकाशित: 10.02.2018

"Kuay Teaw - This is mainly a classic for breakfast. The rice noodle soup (...) is usually served with beef (seik ko). The soup is complemented with some vegetables and a lettuce leaf." This is how our first day started after a hectic wake-up call just before 10, because breakfast is usually only served until 10. A bit unusual for us sweet breakfast eaters - but very tasty! We walk to the river on foot, constantly approached by tuk-tuk drivers until we finally treat ourselves to a small city tour for 15$ for 1.5 hours. Very adventurous driving styles are displayed here, helmets are only briefly worn during the ride when the police are watching. The way back home without a map is also a certain challenge, but it takes us through a few cute alleys, far away from the usual hustle and bustle that prevails on most streets here in Phnom Penh. Since we are still struggling a bit with tiredness, we take another short break by the pool before heading out for dinner. In a cute little restaurant called "Mama", just around the corner, we enjoy Khmer cuisine. The owner is a professor of archaeology and a writer. He even speaks a few words of German. He also shows us his books on Cambodian herbal medicine, stone and soil quality in Angkor, and another one that can only be read or not read in Khmer.
