Kuala Lumpur - Bukit Bintang, Petronas Towers and Batu Caves

प्रकाशित: 05.04.2018

After two rather unconvincing stations in Malaysia (Langkawi and Penang), the capital Kuala Lumpur brings the turning point. I feel comfortable immediately in the metropolis of millions and my mood and spirits rise significantly. And that, even though we had to get up in the middle of the night for the train to KL and leave the accommodation in Penang shortly after five in the morning. At half past five, I sat with Fa and Ma on the platform and we played cards in the waiting room. We all slept through the train ride and so we arrived in Kuala Lumpur pretty 'fresh'. Here, too, we chose an apartment in the center of the financial district in a fancy skyscraper. The location is perfect: we walk out the door and have many restaurants and bars right in front of us, and it's only a 5-minute walk to the Petronas Towers.

We visit the classic sights of Kuala Lumpur such as the Petronas Towers, the KLCC Park, the Batu Caves located a bit outside, and Bukit Bintang, the 'fancy' shopping mile of the city. The kids particularly like the Batu Caves with the impressive, giant monkey goddess. There are also 'cheeky' and very pushy monkeys running around everywhere, stealing food from tourists' backpacks. Our kids watch this with great joy but also caution. I find it rather annoying, but we successfully defend the food for our baby Le. We also visit Chinatown and are now 'proud' owners of two microphones that our kids absolutely had to have. And so they walk back to the apartment singing in the evening, with high entertainment value to German songs. And they feel like little stars when Asians take out their cameras.

In the evenings, we head to the rooftop bars of the city and let the day end high above the city. Our conclusion about the capital of Malaysia: good restaurants, great bars and cafes. Impressive buildings and the big city flair of an Asian metropolis that offers everything. A journey well worth it...
