Visiting the town of Dinan feels like stepping back in time to the medieval era. The city walls surround the beautiful old town with its charming timber-framed and cobblestone houses.
We knew in advance that we could only stay at a campsite here, so we headed straight to one. It was a lovely, well-maintained site on the outskirts of town. The extremely friendly lady at the reception gave us a city map and marked all the places we should visit, and that's exactly what we did. First, we climbed up the hill where there are a few ruins of the old castle. Then we walked back down the hill through the church square. A nicely laid out path follows the river to the harbor and then into the beautiful old town. Many artists have settled here, and you can watch them paint in the small shops. The medieval timber-framed houses in the narrow paved alleys are truly stunning, each one more beautiful than the last. We climbed up the hill and explored the many narrow streets.
We decided to stay in Dinan for another day because it is simply beautiful here.
