Last leg! Once again we got up early to beat the heat at Agua Caliente Indian Reservation. At the end of the road we reached a vista point of the Palm Canyon, an oasis of powerful Californian fan palms. The palms provided pleasant shade in the already incomprehensible heat of the morning. The animal world also rewarded us abundantly! We saw a group of bighorn sheep well camouflaged in the mountains. But our highlight were the dainty little hummingbirds. Getting them in front of the lens was a real challenge because they are so fast, you can hardly keep up with them....!! Drenched in sweat once again, we continued to Anza Borrego, where apart from cacti and other undemanding plants, very little thrives. But we didn't come to the hottest place in the USA for the nature, but for the over 100 partly oversized metal animals and sculptures. These have been placed around the village in the barren landscape, so we embarked on the 'car safari'. Even just finding and photographing the metal forms demanded everything from us in this heat. Drenched once again, we headed to San Diego. The last mile to the hotel left us speechless. An incredible bridge leads from San Diego to Coronado Island. And there stood our hotel majestically. Freshly showered, with a view of the Pacific, we had our aperitifs and watched the sunset at a mild 28°C. It was heavenly and we already love San Diego....
