We only drove a few minutes out of town. There are several free camper parking spaces on the beach and we stop there. The weather is wonderfully beautiful, but we have a picture-perfect hangover afternoon. Coke, candy and Netflix. At some point it becomes unbearably hot in the bus and we have to open the doors and use the rain poncho to protect ourselves from the sun. The next day should be a pure beach day. Maren lies down in the sun and I go looking for driftwood. I think it only takes half an hour and I have built a satisfactory shade house. This means I can also endure a day at the beach. In the afternoon we take a walk to the beach promenade, 2 kilometers away. However, everything is super deserted and we find out that the New Zealanders have a "day after New Years Day". We content ourselves with a cappuccino and walk back to our Willi. After two very quiet days, we'll set off on new adventures tomorrow, fresh and refreshed.
