Our 360° tour around Isla Cristobal starts early. Juan, a familiar face from Isla Isabela, is also on the tour, as we went on a tour together there too. He takes endless photos, so I asked him to send me some of his photos and videos. He promised to upload all the photos and videos on a website and send us the link. 🙂 The tour takes us around the island. The first snorkeling spot doesn't offer much to see as the water is quite murky and the visibility is very poor. But at least it's a refreshing swim. The second snorkeling spot has more to offer. Once again, the rocks provide accommodation and food for a large number of fish. It's so beautiful that you can't stop looking. I'm looking forward to Juan's pictures. After a delicious freshly cooked lunch, we head to the third and final spot, passing by small overgrown volcanic cones, desert-like coastlines, and beautiful sandy beaches. It starts raining, very lightly, a warm rain. We reach the Leon Dormido rocks, two steep rocks rising vertically out of the sea. Here, we snorkel around the rocks with the current. The first thing we see is a sea turtle, then a shark, then another sea turtle, it just swims past me. The visibility is great and more and more fish come into view. Another shark and then deeper in the water, we can see hammerhead sharks swimming in circles. Amazing. The water is deep blue and everything looks beautiful. Turtles again and again, larger azurite shimmering fish, or yellow-black striped small schools of fish, small almost translucent jellyfish. We can't get enough of the sight. What a beautiful experience.
With these impressions, we head back to the port.
After a shower and fresh clothes, we stroll through the town and... meet someone we already met on Isla Isabela. He just arrived from the ferry and coincidentally is staying at our hotel. We meet him later at the hotel restaurant and spend the evening having dinner together.
