Picturesque Puebla

Publicēts: 01.02.2022

A week ago on Sunday, I landed in Mexico City. I spent seven days in the 10-million metropolis without feeling the urge to move on. I was already a regular guest at the hostel and was happy to provide tips for excursions, transportation connections, or recommendations for the next Mexican destination during breakfast. But despite my 180-day visa, the clock was ticking relentlessly because I had booked my next flight to Guatemala for February 2nd. Wednesday, in three days, after almost six weeks in Mexico.

The time was hardly enough for additional trips. With this in mind, I had already canceled a two-day trip to Guanajuato, five hours north of Mexico City. I met Andy from the USA, whom I had said goodbye to in Puerto Escondido two and a half weeks ago, again on Friday. On Sunday, he wanted to visit the city of Puebla, two hours southeast of Mexico City.

I gladly joined him. We took the subway to the bus station and then drove for two hours on the highway over a mountain range with snow-covered peaks to Puebla. Puebla was like a picture-perfect city. Colorful facades, colonial architecture, fantastic food - I was already familiar with all of this from other cities. But Puebla, we agreed, exceeded our expectations in a special way. It was a good thing we had booked two nights.
