Our day in Stockholm starts very early at 6 am, so that we can arrive at the Vasa Museum on time. Apparently, it is the most visited museum in Stockholm.
And the sight of the Vasa is simply overwhelming. I highly recommend seeing it live.
The Vasa was salvaged after over 300 years underwater in 1961 and has been conserved since then. The Vasa sank on its maiden voyage after only about 1000m in the Stockholm harbor, presumably due to construction errors.
After the museum, we take the ferry to the construction site of the royal locks. These will be rebuilt by 2025 and of course, we cannot miss a construction site on our sightseeing tour.
We also visit some artistically designed subway stations, as well as the old town and the castle.
We end our trip with a fantastic view over the city. On the way back to the subway, we pass by the lock construction site again.
