We were lucky with our campsite in Castellammare del Golfo.
The access was an adventure because it was extremely steep. The excellent location with a view of the sea made up for this. We were on the beach via a few steps. Fine sand for building sandcastles and rocky cliffs for snorkeling. What more could a child's (and adult's) heart want? The water was wonderfully warm and yet still refreshing and crystal clear.
All in all, a small, fine, uncomplicated campsite with no frills. But relaxed and in a very good location.
We spent the mornings and afternoons on the beach. We relaxed in the motorhome at lunchtime. And in the evening we walked into town. The evening meals were again very good to perfect and at moderate prices.
After 2-3 days at the beach we usually get bored and so we headed south-east to the "Valley of the Temples" in Arigento.
Since we were quite quick this time, we arrived at around 1:30 p.m. We quickly looked for a parking space (with overnight accommodation for campers).
Unlike at the sea, it is hot in the country and so we took a taxi that took us to the starting point of our hike.
We took it very, very easy because of the afternoon heat. But from 5 p.m. onwards the temperature was pleasant and we decided to stay in the complex until late at night. Anita cleverly smuggled snacks from the motorhome into the complex so that we didn't have to pay the entrance fee again.
Strengthened, we set off into the night. The nighttime atmosphere between the temples is a special experience. It was a beautiful, relaxed day with many views and insights into Greek culture in Sicily.
