This morning we woke up in the warm cabin and it was pouring rain outside.
We were overjoyed not to be sleeping in the tent. We enjoyed the morning and stayed in the cabin until 2 pm. After that, we drove to Kautokeino, a town in Norway, just before the Finnish border. The town is already located in Lapland. It is fascinating how the landscape looks here, for miles you can see nothing but rocks, forests and lakes. Although only 3,000 people live in Kautokeino, there are reportedly about 100,000 reindeer here. We will be looking for them tomorrow!
Just outside Kautokeino, we are sleeping by a lake tonight, this time in the tent again. The sun was shining and it was pleasantly warm when we arrived. However, we couldn't sit outside because we were attacked by thousands of mosquitoes. It was only bearable inside the tent, so we spent the evening there playing Monopoly. Tonight the sky is extremely clear and it is only 6 degrees, but fortunately the mosquitoes are gone as well.
With a hot water bottle and snuggled deep into our sleeping bags, we are now lying in the tent and going to sleep.
