'Hi' you...

Today is another incredibly beautiful day, the sun shines from a cloudless sky and we start the day a bit more relaxed. First, we still have to organize a few things for the onward journey to La Digue on 04.11., including booking the ferry.

Then we set off towards Anse Petite Cour, where another beautiful snorkeling spot on the island is located. It should be mentioned that on the Seychelles all beaches must be accessible to the public, but some beaches are owned by luxury hotels or resorts. Therefore, you have to register by phone with the hotels in advance and make a beach reservation, but this is totally uncomplicated and has the advantage that the little bays are never crowded, which is very convenient for us. So our Anse Petite Cour is located in front of the 4-star hotel 'Le Domaine de la Reserve', but with the corresponding reservation, we are allowed to pass the luxury stores.

On the way there, we pass numerous fruit stands by the roadside, where we stock up on lots of vitamins (pineapples & co) - which are always useful during Covid times.

When we arrive at the 'luxury beach', it's time to put on snorkeling masks and off we go, but unfortunately, besides seaweed, we can hardly see anything - even though the bay itself is really beautiful again. By the way, it is completely deserted, and we wonder where all the hotel guests are...?

After a while, we meet another person in the bay who also has a snorkeling mask in his hand, of course, we immediately ask him if he can recommend a good snorkeling spot. It turns out that he is also from Germany and he knows where the reef is located - once again quite far out, we have to swim over several 100 meters of seaweed, which I personally always find a little creepy because you never know exactly what is hiding beneath it (stingrays...?).

The German guy (whose name I unfortunately forgot) is somehow a bit of a 'bragger' and a bit self-confident, but in a certain way also sympathetic, as he immediately offers us to visit the reef together with him. So he puts on his 'giant fins', also has a knife strapped to his leg (hmm..., what is he expecting out there) and wants to convince me to put on fins as well - well, as I said, a little 'show-off', he underestimates that women can swim faster than him without 'aids' on their feet...:P. But he will notice that after the first meters - I would say, I've already scored some points there...

Finally, we reach the reef and Mama also makes her way there, I'm really proud that she goes along with all of this - that should be mentioned at this point. Because it doesn't matter how fast or slow you reach your goal - as they say - the journey is the reward. It was all worth it, we encounter a great variety of fish and some corals, just great. Our 'bragger' then wants to go a little further out, well, we wouldn't do that alone anyway, so let's take advantage of having a 'companion' for once. He is also quite adventurous, keeps diving deep again and again, reaches into small stone caves without knowing what creatures are lurking inside, and at some point he resurfaces and proudly announces 'there is a shark in that cave down there - take a look'. But that's too much for me - it may be that these 'only' 1-meter long specimens are harmless, but I simply have respect and stay at the water's surface - let him think what he wants. Apparently, there are also 2 such specimens down there - he is having fun and I make my way back towards the beach...

Another advantage of the hotel through which we have access to the beach is that it has a huge pool that visitors are also allowed to use - the only requirement: you have to have a drink at the pool bar. Wow, so now we can also enjoy this luxury water, which is almost completely empty to our amazement... Why should you actually book a stay at this luxury resort when you can use all its amenities completely for free - that's a mystery to us?!?

Afterwards, we head back towards our home, we get the delicious fruit from the roadside for an afternoon snack, and then it's already time for sunset, which we want to watch from the opposite beach of our accommodation. Before that, there is enough time for a little stroll along the beach (here we meet some fishermen who proudly show us their catch of the day), and then we watch the sun kissing the horizon between the two small islands 'Cousin' & 'Cousine'.

To end the day, we treat ourselves to a restaurant visit near our accommodation - here we order fish & octopus curry - typical Creole dishes and simply delicious!
