We left České Budějovice and drove about 10 kilometers to the north, where we reached Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle.
Our guide told us about long queues and couples posing for photos in front of the romantic backdrop - at least on summer weekends.
Since we were there during the week, the number of visitors was still manageable.
However, as a precaution, we had already purchased tickets for one of the two English tours of the interior of the castle on the Internet.
Since we had to wait a bit before our tour started, we took a stroll through the castle park.
Then we saw the representative rooms and the chambers of Princess Eleonore (although we were not allowed to take pictures).
The beautifully carved library was particularly impressive, housing more than 12,000 works in five different languages.
After our visit, we continued on to Prague.
