Lofoten 3-15.March 2024,9.March

Publicēts: 26.05.2024

Today we drove to Vestvågoy Henningsvaer and via Kabelvåg back to Svolvaer.

Kabelvåg goes back to Øystein Magnusson, who built a church and some fishing huts there in 1103. According to the Heimskringla, however, the first town in Northern Norway was founded in this area several centuries earlier and bore the name Vågar.

The most important economic sectors are fishing and tourism. Tourist attractions include the Lofotakvariet, the Galleri Espolin, the Lofotmuseet and the Vågan kirke.

In addition to a primary and secondary school, the town is also home to the Lofoten folkehøgskole and the Filmkunstskolen i Kabelvåg, which is part of the University of Tromsø – Norway's Arctic University.

In the evening we were able to see one of our biggest northern lights shows. Simply unbelievably beautiful, such an intense and long show.
