The maze of rocks on the Causse Méjan was once thought to be a ruined city. Today we know that the bizarre shapes are the result of the erosion of the granite rock. It is a very special habitat, with incredible fauna and flora, but also with agricultural land.
Our journey first takes us along the D996 towards Meyrueis to Perjuret and from there up a narrow road to the hamlet of L'hom. We park our car in a meadow in front of the first houses and then set off on the Sentier découverte de Nîmes-le-Vieux. A rocky landscape soon opens up before us that is almost impossible to describe in words and difficult to capture in photos. The land is so vast, the sky is high and the silence is great. The path is well signposted and there are explanatory information boards at intervals.
It should also be noted that we would hardly have thought of going to L'hom ourselves. A friendly Breton from Nantes warmly recommended it to us at the campsite shortly after our arrival, saying it was "absolutely worth seeing!" And that's exactly what it is.
