Fit but not really rested, we started on the next day (Monday) surprisingly even punctually at 07 o'clock a day trip to Cafayate, a winemaker village about 3 hours south of Salta. Since the driver or guide only spoke Spanish (incessantly, quickly, loudly and sometimes even singing), it was a bit difficult for me to keep my eyes open until I had my first cup of coffee.
Even though the village allegedly serves as a retreat for some celebrities (including Harrison Ford, Madonna), the journey there was much more scenic for us! Although rocky and currently quite dry, a great mountain landscape with different minerals that created a colorful scenery. Our guide also knew every single rock and required quite a bit of imagination from us to see a face, gorillas or the sinking Titanic in the mountain facades. Well, it got better after the wine tasting...
Speaking of wine: in Cafayate we could also try wine ice cream 🍦. Both white and red. But that wasn't really a highlight. Maybe something for enthusiasts. 🤷🏻♂️ On the way back we also stopped at the so-called amphitheater, a kind of half-circle that was washed free, which has such good acoustics that concerts occasionally take place there. In summary, a worthwhile tour.
